DESCRIPTION:For the past decade\, ISPs deployed IPv6 in parallel with IPv4.
  Many people already run IPv6 on their home networks without being aware o
 f it. Meanwhile\, computer vendors added IPv6 functionality to high level 
 programming APIs. Many applications already use IPv6 without the developer
  even being aware of it!\n\nThis talk will cover:\n1) How to determine whe
 ther your network already runs IPv6.\n2) Review IPv6 addressing.\n3) Overv
 iew of the IPv6 protocol\, with an emphasis of its similarity to IPv4 and 
 interoperability with lower layer (Ethernet) and higher layer (TCP/UDP) pr
 otocols.\n4) How to determine whether your application already uses IPv6.\
 n5) Examples of lower-level and higher-level network API’s\, and how som
 e of them automatically use IPv6.\n6) How an application decides whether t
 o use IPv4 or IPv6 when making connections.\n\nBio:\nDarrell worked as a U
 NIX system administrator\, Network engineer\, and Network manager for 25 y
 ears. This included being in charge of the initial production network depl
 oyments of IPv6 at both Cisco and Apple. Now retired from the on-call rota
 tion\, he develops network management applications in Swift for the MacOS 
 App Store.\n\n----\n\nOur meetings are scheduled for 7:30pm on the third T
