SUMMARY:Developer Donuts: Dev and DevOps - pals forever!
DESCRIPTION:In many IT organizations\, there's some confusion on the differ
ence between development and DevOps. After all\, DevOps is an amalgamation
of development and operations. However\, there is also an overlap between
what DevOps engineers and developers do and who they are. In simple terms
\, developers are engineers skilled at programming application software an
d developing features for users. DevOps engineers automate processes to bu
ild\, test and deploy applications\, and maintain them in on-prem data cen
ters or on cloud.\n\nThough they are different\, these two personas work t
ogether to help businesses achieve their transformation goals. Any develop
er can do DevOps\, and DevOps should concentrate on development after auto
mation. These roles are now blurring with the adoption of cloud computing
 services.\n\n**Agenda:**\nSession 1 [5:30 PM - 6:15 PM]: Thinking DevOps f
rom the First Principle\n\n**About session:** First Principle is the basic
proposition which cannot be deduced and cannot be derived from other assu
mptions.\n\nIn this talk\, we will understand what are the basic tenets of
DevOps principles and how they can be applied for decision making in diff
erent situations. Further\, the Speaker will take practical examples from
Devtron\, an open-source platform\, which is democratizing the adoption of
DevOps practices on Kubernetes.\n\n**About speaker:** Prashant Ghildiyal\
 , Co Founder & CEO\, Devtron Labs\nLinkedIn:[ ](https://www.linkedin.com/i

 - 7:00 PM]: Observe your apps using Elastic APM\n\n**About session:** If y
our application is running slow\, you should be the first person to know t
his instead of your users.\n\nApplication performance monitoring (APM) mak
es tracking down issues & problems much easier. Elastic APM helps to colle
ct the traces\, transactions\, errors and span from your distribution plat
forms\, microservices and allows centrally monitoring those data. It helps
in finding RCA for DevOps & Developers and tracking down to the exact com
ponent where the problem occurred. In this talk we will check how elastic
APM works and try to set up elastic APM on a small Golang Service\n\n**Abo
