SUMMARY:DevOps Exchange November - Sony Playstation\, Accurx\, ONTO
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the DevOps Exchange London on the 16th of November h
osted by our good friends\, Healthtech company Accurx.\n\nHave you ever wo
ndered how Kubernetes powers real time game servers? We'll hear from **Son
y Playstation** about how they're building an Open Source project to run i
n Kubernetes\, which ensures Playstation consistently and seamlessly provi
de great shared-world game experiences.\n\nElectric Vehicle organisation *
*ONTO** will be joining us to give an insight into what lessons can be gai
ned from working backwards from strong Product Vision\, and what can be bo
rrowed from successful Product teams when building Platform teams.\n\nFina
lly\, our hosts **Accurx** will also be taking the stage to give us a full
insight in trying to grow an engineering function within the healthcare i
ndustry. The trials and tribulations of working closely with doctors and p
ractitioners within the NHS to develop ground breaking solutions to improv
 e patient care.\n\nThe usual format will be followed\, with 3 x 20 minute
talks\, followed by refreshments (from Accurx's inhouse chefs!) and the us
ual continued discussion.\n\nWe have a capped limit on capacity so please
 RSVP asap.\n\n**[Joseph Irving](https://www.linkedin.com/in/joseph-irving-

\n\n**Playstation and Kubernetes: How to solve a problem like real-time**\
n\nKubernetes can be a natural fit for hosting things like websites and AP
Is - but hosting something that requires sets of long-lived stable connect
ions may not work as well in the shifting sands that is a Kubernetes clust
er. Realtime video game servers are one of these things\, as a group of fr
iends would not enjoy being booted out of their 30 minute match because th
e pod they were playing in got autoscaled. At PlayStation we're trying to
use an open source project\, Agones\, to run game servers in a Kubernetes
cluster. We hope to get all the benefits that come with the Kubernetes eco
system\, without sacrificing the ability to provide great shared-world gam
e experiences.\n\nJoseph is a Senior DevOps Engineer working in Playstatio
n's centralised technology team. He’s been using Kubernetes to run produ
ction workloads for over 6 years and he enjoys trying to solve company wid
e problems in a simple but flexible way\, building common tools and platfo
rms to simplify and speed up development.\n\n**[Simone Casciaroli](https:/
 /www.linkedin.com/in/simonecasciaroli/) @ [ONTO](https://on.to/)**\n\n**Ar
e we building Cloud Platforms using the right metrics?**\n\nDespite the ex
citement in the industry for Cloud Platforms\, the truth is that they are
often created without a strong Product vision\, and they end up being eith
er not fully adopted or overwhelmed with customer support tickets. I will
share some key learnings that I borrowed from Product Management and have
helped me set up successful Platform teams.\n\nSimone is a technical leade
r who is specialised in enabling teams to work autonomously and continuall
y and incrementally ship value to users.\nHe has spent the last two decade
s leading technical teams across startups and scale-ups with roles at the
intersection of delivery\, product\, and technology (Now TV\, Babylon Heal
th\, SecureSafe).\n\nSimone has co-founded two health and personal develop
ment startups and recently joined the Electric Vehicles revolution as Head
  of Engineering at Onto.\n\n**[Bharat Reddy](https://www.linkedin.com/in/r
 eddyalready/)** @ **[Accurx](https://www.accurx.com)**\n\n**Devopsing it:
a retrospective on doubling our engineering team and living to tell the De
vOps tale**\n\nSeeding a culture of devops from day 1 is really difficult
but absolutely essential. Come along on a tour of some of the practices th
at helped and hindered our pace and reliability in meeting doctor and pati
ent needs for the NHS\, such as shortening feedback loops for quicker prod
uct validation\, learning from incidents\, and finding the balance in givi
ng engineers the right amount of privilege to encourage good practice.\n\n
Bharat Reddy has 15 years of software development and deployment experienc
e in both the finance and healthcare sectors. He’s currently a tech lead
in the Platform Team at Accurx\, where he’s building out the cloud infr
astructure and development platform to enable the engineering organisation
to rapidly build out the next generation of healthcare communication. He
is absolutely hustling you when he claims he’s not actually that good at
  pool.\n\nAll the best\,\nThe DOXLON Team\n[@thedoxhub](https://twitter.co
