SUMMARY:DevOps Monthly Online: Pipeline Factories for CI/CD
DESCRIPTION:Agenda:\n• 5:00 PM - Check in and hang out\n• 5:05 PM - Lea
 n Coffee Chat/Presentation\n• 5:25 PM - Lean Coffee Chat/Q+A\n• 5:55 P
 M - Wrap up\, Next month\n• 6:00 PM - Adios!\n\nTroubleshooting and test
ing CI/CD is a horrible time consuming pain. Niall wants to share a patter
n that is quite helpful\, where you invert this model and pull the heavy l
ifting out of Jenkins/Github/Gitlab\, into templated scripts you can test
and refine locally.\n\nWorking with a local development team to Dockerize
their Python environment\, Niall started playing around with embedding the
pipeline logic inside the development environment. This pattern of pullin
g the pipeline out of the CI tooling changed the way he thought about mana
ging pipeline code.\n\nAfter seeing a few examples of what others where do
ing with this technique\, he started using Python’s cookiecutter library
to mass produce his CI/CD from a simple base template. The end result has
let him spin up new projects incredibly quickly\, with complete CI at day
zero with no additional work.\n\nWith the hopes of this being of interest
to others\, Niall proposes that this pattern could be taken even further\
, and since testing pipelines can be a mind numbing procedure\, he wants t
o test this locally.\n\nSpeaker: Niall Byrne\, local SysEng and PyDev.\n\n
