SUMMARY:DevOpsDC: Kubernetes & State of the Secure Software Supply Chain
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly DevOpsDC Meetup\n\n• 6:30 - 6:45 - Me
 et and Greet\n\n• 6:45 - 7:00 - Introductions and Announcements\n\n• 7
 :00 - 7:15 - Speaker 1\n\n• 7:30 - 8:15 - Speaker 2\n\n• 8:15 - 8:30 -
Closing Remarks and Networking\n\nEvent Sponsor :\nRhythmic Technologies
have been designing\, implementing and operating infrastructure for custom
applications for over 20 years\, combining the experience that comes from
spending a long time in the trenches with the modern thinking that comes
from building cloud-based infrastructure and being part of DevOps teams.\n
Rhythmic Technologies is built to support engineering teams. We take proce
ss seriously but also believe that infrastructure must be flexible in orde
r to enable opportunities for our clients. We look toward deep relationshi
ps where we can be challenged\, make an impact and learn.\nConnect with us

hythmic Technologies will be donating 3 dollars per attendee to ByteBack.
Byte Back’s mission is to close the digital divide by providing historic
ally excluded communities an equitable pathway into the digital economy. W
e achieve this through transformative digital advocacy\, digital literacy\
 , and tech certification training.\n\nSpeaker 1: Steven Black - (https://g
ithub.com/sblack4)\n"The History of Kubernetes"\nKubernetes is so hot righ
t now but where did this project come from? Learn how this critical piece
of cloud-native infrastructure with an ancient greek namesake has cultivat
ed an open-source ecosystem unlike any other.\n\nSpeaker 2: Brandon Mitche
ll - (https://twitter.com/sudo_bmitch)\n"State of the Secure Software Supp
ly Chain"\nBuilding a secure software supply chain is no easy feat. SolarW
inds showed us that even the experts have a difficult time. This talk give
s an overview of what’s required\, including ingesting external dependen
cies\, attestation of the build infrastructure\, signing artifacts\, SBoMs
\, reproducible builds\, and admission controllers. We’ll also look at s
ome of the key projects in this space being developed within the CNCF and
Linux Foundation. The topics here are focused on deploying with containers
in a Kubernetes infrastructure\, but the overall ideas transfer to other
environments that build and package applications using open source depende
ncies and CI/CD pipelines.\n\nWe value the participation of each member of
the community and want all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling
experience. To make clear what is expected\, all delegates/attendees\, spe
akers\, exhibitors\, organizers\, and volunteers at any DevOpsDC event are
required to conform to our Code of Conduct (http://www.meetup.com/DevOpsD
 C/pages/Code_of_Conduct/).\n\nhttps://www.devopschat.co/meetings/devopsdc-
