SUMMARY:Rescheduled: The Mobile Edge Cloud\, with Sunay Tripathi
DESCRIPTION:Due to the evolving Coronavirus/COVID-19 situation\, the March
meeting of BayLISA has been rescheduled.\n\nAfter thorough consideration\,
and with the safety of our attendees\, speakers\, venue host and board\,
we have decided to reschedule the upcoming BayLISA meeting\; it will still
be held at a future date\, yet to be determined.\n\nWe hope you'll suppor
t this decision by joining us when we return. Please check our meetup page
for the updated meeting details.\n\nTitle: The Mobile Edge Cloud\nSpeaker
: Sunay Tripathi \, CTO MobiledgeX\n\nAbstract:\nThis session will talk ab
out how enabling the cloud at the edge creates numerous opportunities for
developers\, operators and cloud providers. It will cover case studies suc
h as Niantic that uses edge-enabled network services to eliminate latency
and harness the dynamic resource allocation needed to manage the unprecede
nted scale that comes with simultaneous unlimited players. Join Sunay to h
ear more real-life examples and understand what is happening at the edge t
oday. The AWS announcement at Reinvent last year showed that the movement
to the edge is real. Also\, we all notice that 5G today is more than the s
peed\; it's the new services and devices that are enabled by the increased
bandwidth and increased network performance. Let's see what we can all do
for the mobile edge cloud.\n\nBio:\nSunay Tripathi is the CTO and executi
ve vice president of engineering and product at MobiledgeX\, a Deutsche Te
lekom-founded Silicon Valley startup focused on building a mobile edge-clo
ud. Sunay was also the founder and CTO of Pluribus Networks Inc. and was t
he chief architect for Kernel/Network Virtualization at Sun Microsystems.
He has an extensive 25+ years of software background and holds more than 2
00+ patents encompassing kernel virtualization\, virtual switching and clo
ud. His career started with innovative research and moved to building team
s and running large initiatives ranging from operating systems\, distribut
ed systems\, virtualization and has grown into building full cloud offerin
gs.\n\nOur meetings are scheduled for 7:30pm on the third Thursday of each
month.\n\nBayLISA includes system and network administrators across a ran
ge of skill levels. BayLISA meets to discuss topics of interest to system
administrators and managers. The meetings are free and open to the public.
\n\nWe always welcome presentation topics and volunteer speakers. Use the
"Contact us" link on this page to get in touch with BayLISA's directors.\n
