SUMMARY:Tales of Isolation
DESCRIPTION:** PLEASE REGISTER HERE **\nhttps://trifork.zoom.us/webinar/reg
 ister/WN_BQV5NCuTQxOOyWs11hQXgQ\n\nIn this talk\, we'll explore some histo
ry of workload isolation from the 1960s to date\, take a peek under the ho
od of popular workload isolation mechanisms(Linux containers\, MicroVMs…
) and discuss the standards that make them play well across multiple vendo
rs.\n\nAbstract:\nIsolation\, when it comes to humans is a grave punishmen
 t. Turns out\, for software workloads\, this is a highly sought after feat
ure to effectively utilize infrastructure resources(compute/storage/networ
k\, etc.) and to lower the cost of operation.\nWhen you throw a container
image or a function at a public cloud provider\, they are glad to run it f
or you at affordable rates because of advancements in workload isolation.
Similar isolation primitives are what enable you to replicate your applica
 tion's entire infrastructure with just a `docker-compose up` command.\n\nB
io:\nPraveen Kottarathil is a software engineer by trade and currently foc
uses on the operational reliability of software systems.\nHe is a part of
ING's Cash & Devices team\, responsible for the software systems that hand
le deposit\, withdrawal\, and bulk orders of physical cash (The money you
can touch!).\n\nPraveen has clocked up over 15 years of industry experienc
e in designing\, building\, and operating software systems.\nHe enjoys wea
ring multiple hats as an architect\, developer\, or operations/reliability
engineer.\nHe genuinely cares about continuous delivery\, human factors i
n operational reliability\, and nurturing psychological safety in teams.\n
Praveen aspires to be a stand-up comedian someday.\n\n** PLEASE REGISTER H
